What Xiaomi phone model do I have?

If you thought Apple released too many iPhones, then you will be surprised by the sheer amount of Xiaomi phones available to buy. So, how do you tell what Xiaomi phone model you have?

Xiaomi release over 20 new phones every year by themselves. What’s more, they assist several other companies by funding projects and providing hardware. Furthermore, Xiaomi has many sub brands such as, Mi, Redmi and Black Shark.

How to identify Xiaomi phone model

Xiaomi phones are very similar to the Google Pixel line in that several of them do not have any standout features other than the logo.

Identifying which device, you have can therefore be difficult. Even worse is that there are many model numbers that have not yet been identified due to the rate that Xiaomi releases new devices. Many of them go unnoticed or are specific to certain regions of the world.

If you can power your phone on

If you can power the device on and navigate to settings this is the easiest way to check which version of Xiaomi phone you own.

Settings > My Device > Model Name.

This screen will tell you the specific name of your model. Sometimes it may list a model number but this doesn’t always seem to be the case with Xiaomi unlike other brands.

If you cannot access your Xiaomi phone

Aside from the box your device came in there is no concrete way of checking which Xiaomi phone you have.

You can find the model number in one of three places. Firstly, on the bottom portion of the back of the device. Secondly, underneath the camera. Finally, in some cases, engraved on the inside of the sim tray.

Once you have identified the model number consult the table below to find out the specific name of the model of the device.

If you cannot find the Xiaomi model number

If you cannot locate the model number then the IMEI number should be located somewhere on the phone. This is often found on the back plate or the sim tray.

You can enter this number on the following website to verify your model name.
